Detox Recipe Help

Fortunately, we have some version of rice and beans or lentils each day (usually at lunch , it seems).  And while our recipe calls for just plain boiled lentils or beans, you can add some spice to that to make the dish more palatable.

Here’s what I did last night. Dinner called for:

Broccoli: 2 spears
Garlic Powder: 1 TBSP
Lentils: 1/2 cup boiled
Onion : 1TBSP choopped
Spinach : 1 bunch
Tomato: 1 small

Since it didn’t specify what kind of lentils, I used red baby lentils.  They have a milder, slightly sweeter flavor and cook very quickly. I sauteed the onion in a shallow pan, and added a bit of Tumeric (it’s a spice that’s good to use while on a cleanse).  I added the lentils, garlic and then about a cup of water for them to boil in.  When the lentils were almost done (about 10 minutes), I added the broccoli and some spinach.  To be honest, I didn’t use an entire bunch of spinach, only about half of it.  And since I missed having asparagus at lunch, I added in 3 spears of asparagus, too.

The green veggies got a little steaming and the garlic/tumeric/onion combination was yummy.   Feel free to experiment with other spices each day.  Good for a cleanse are tumeric, cumin and cayenne.

    Hi Mina,

It’s great to hear from you. For hunger in the evening, feel free to add some more greens, a glass of almond milk or an apple.

    Keep up the great work.

    Cheers,

    Hi Melissa,

Definitely give it a try. Adding garlic, tumeric, cumin, cayenne, or other spices is all good.

For tonight, I’ll create a huge salad and add all of the veggies in. So black beans, lentils or tofu, depending on what’s called for. I personally don’t care for tofu, so I sub in black beans or lentils. Then use olive oil and/or lemon juice for dressing. I would also steam the asparagus and broccoli and add them in.

On other nights, if the dinner isn’t a salad, you can just toss everything in the pan and do a quick, light stir fry (like in the recipe).

We also had a few people make salsa on days when we’re supposed to have a tomato and/or onion at some time during the day. And, since you missed the dinner that’s I used the recipe for, you can sub that dinner in for a night to change it up a bit.

    Hope that helps!

    Cheers,
    Gin

That recipe looks yummy indeed, i didn’t realize we can cook some of our meals, that’s the way to go, so far I have just felt light headed, not enough energy of course and hungry in the evening. But poweing through.

This actually looks really good… but this was the day I felt like I was dying.
It looks like dinner is the same (or very similar) for the next 3 days and I am unable to watch the webinar from work, were there any creative ideas on the dinner for tonight that was also the same for day #1, at the webinar???
