Best Body Challengers Tell Their Stories

I am thrilled with the success that Your Best Body Challengers are having.  We’re barely halfway through the 8 weeks and not only are challengers losing pounds and inches, they’re looking and feeling great, finding energy they didn’t know they had and just finding success everywhere.  Here are their stories:

________________

Ginny,

I just wanted to send you a quick note to let you know how much I’m loving these workouts. It’s not just the Sunday morning workouts, but all the ones you’ve challenged us to do during the rest of the week. I’m down about 8 lbs since I started but more importantly my “saddlebags” are disappearing!  For sure that has always been a problem area of mine and your challenge has taken my workouts to the next level.

I think the one thing that I have learned that has been the most helpful is the rest period. The brief 5 – 30 seconds that we get to recover before moving to the next exercise or next set has really enforced how important breaks are. Sometimes I push myself too hard and I have really enjoyed the classes!

Thank you so much!

Hi Ginny

I thought I’d drop you a note at our half way point check in for our challenge.
I feel great.. I have been very conscious about my nutrition, I make a list at the beginning of the week ‘ a food plan’ and it has really been helping me stay focused on healthy eating during the week.  I choose a protein from your list a carb from your list, and am eating a lot more vegetables.  I’m consistently at 6 meals a day.  I am down 4 lbs.  which of course I’d like to be more, but I’m happy with progress.
In addition to the Saturday boot camp, I have tried one of your sponsors class,  Hot Yoga at Anchorage Yoga.  I have also been adding resistance training 3 x a week, and some cardio 3 x a week mostly on my bike at home.  Swimming 1 time/ week.
I am just coming off a heel injury and have been switching my work out routine to accomodate that ( less pounding), and am hoping to be coming to more of your September boot camps and have told a few friends about the next challenge at work.
Thanks so much for the inspiration.  I feel good progress.. I can see some muscle definition in my arms and legs, feel stronger in my core, and more focused on my goals.

Ginny,
I am so glad I took the plunge and joined your fitness challenge. I am inspired to work out more and eat healthier than I ever have before. It has taken me a long time to feel like I really can control my own body and health. This past Sunday I was able to get in 2 hours of Alaska fit with your program, then in the afternoon I biked 45 min. to a 1.5 hr. yoga class. And I could still walk the next day! Doing the challenge for 8 wks seemed excessive at first, but now I am thinking the opposite.
Thanks for everything,
Cindy (9 lbs. lighter and at least 2 ” off my hips)

Why Do Francy and Kari Love AlaskaFit Boot Camp?

After this morning’s Boot Camp Workout, Francy and Kari and I were talking about the workout and they were telling me why they love coming to AlaskaFit Boot Camp.  In addition to the great results they’re already seeing they’re feeling great!  Have a listen! Then visit www.AnchorgeBootCamps.com and take your place in our next camp. We begin on September 8 and we only have 6 spaces left.

Success is Everywhere!

We just completed our testing for our August Boot Camp and the results, as always, never cease to amaze me. Here’s a summary of how everyone did. After you see the results, listen to what JJ has to say. She sprained her ankle early in the month and yet still dropped a size in her jeans and improved her pushups!

Congratulations everyone on doing a fantastic job!

Results:
Run times came down an average of 10 seconds, with the outstanding results of Faye taking a whopping 33 seconds off her time. Joe was a close second going 16 seconds faster. Courtney and Christina came down 11 (Christina has the course record of 38 seconds!) . Samantha was down 10,
Colleen took of 7 seconds and Nathlyne took 6 seconds off!

Pushups: Again, great improvements! JJ doubled her results from last month from 12 to 25! Courtney and Christina upped her game by 10 with Faye just behind them at 9 and Joe rounded us out with an extra 6!

Crunches: Way to go Courtney, adding 16! Nathelyn was just behind at 14,Samantha added 6, Faye added 8, Joe 7 and Colleen got in another 3.

Fantastic!

And now, here’s JJ:

Best Body Challenger Success Story!

Sherri is one of our Best Body Challengers. When I asked for feedback on how our challengers were doing, she was the first to respond. Here’s her update:

Hi Ginny,

Just wanted to give you an update on my results thus far. I know it has only been two weeks, but I feel SO much better! I can’t believe how good I feel. After being sick for almost a year and a half, this Challenge was just what I needed to get back into the swing again. I have so much more energy as well as seeing results on the scale and my clothes starting to fit looser. Yah! And that’s only in TWO weeks! I can’t wait to see what it will be like at the end of the eight weeks. :o )

Thank you so much for offering such a wonderful service with these bootcamps and the nutritional analysis. Like I said, I feel like I am getting my life back. Your slogan of ” “It’s not just about getting into shape, it’s about getting into life!” is very true and I am holding it tight with both hands!!

So, I asked her to take a moment to say all of that on film. Here’s what she says about her AlaskaFit experience. Tell us how you’re doing with Your Best Body Challenge...add your comments below.

More Great Stories!

This just in from one of our July Boot Campers. Rebekah has been dealing with tendinitis in her knees (both of them) and yet she’s been coming every day and pushing herself in everything she does.  Below is the e-mail she sent to let me know how great she’s done in spite of all of the obstacles in her way.

Hi Ginny,

I’m one of the girls that was going to the boot camp, something came up and I’m making a quick move to Washington state. I just wanted to say thank you! Just around my hips, waist, and chest I have lost 12 inches and I didn’t even get to finish boot camp! I’m so disappointed that I didn’t get to see this through, but I didn’t want to disappear without saying goodbye or extending my gratitude!

Thank You So Much!
Rebekah

I got the chance to speak with Rebekah before she took off an in addition to the great news about her inches lost, she also let me know that she no longer has pain in her knees thanks to some exercises that Chris, our Boot Camp instructor gave her to work on outside of camp.  She leaves us both looking and feeling better.

You can do it too.  Boot Camp begins on the first Monday of the month.  Click here to join us.

Letter from a May Boot Camper

Just got another great e-mail from a Boot Camper who was with us in May.

Hi Ginny,

I was in one of your Boot Camps recently and was having some trouble with my knees as I was still working back from a knee scope.  During the camp I struggled with the knee and worked through the discomfort, determined to get through.  Throughout the course of the Boot Camp I lost 0 pounds, however; I gained 5 pounds.

The great thing about this story is that the 5 pounds was muscle and my knees are now pain free due to the good muscle support I now have in my legs.  So this is actually a thank you!

I continue to exercise at home and at the Military Gym.

Thanks again,
Kathleen Just

What Doesn’t Kill Us Makes Us Strong!

I got this letter from one of my Boot Campers and thought I would share.  Do you have a “What doesn’t kill us makes us strong!” story?  Share below.

Hi Ginny,

How many times have you said, “What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger” in our Boot Camp classes?  Usually, I grit my teeth and sometimes make a sarcastic comment (either out loud or in my head) as you put us through our paces one more time. Well, today, I finally “got it.”  Not only that, I really believe it.

I set out today on a bright, blue-sky, sunny afternoon to hike up the North Face of Alyeska.  No big deal.  I grabbed a friend and we started our climb.  I knew it would be a slow-go, but knew I could do it.  And besides, the sun was shining.  As we made our way up, the weather clouded over.  I thought, “Hmm, this isn’t good.”  Then we hit the snow field.  That was definitely not good.  I don’t like climbing in snow when I’m prepared for it, much less when I’m not.

Within moments, the temperatures dropped and the winds picked up.  We were on a steep pitch (40 degrees, I think) I had no traction and my hip, which as you know gives me problems, decided now was a good time to stop working.  ”I’m not strong enough,”  I thought.  ”What the hell was I thinking?”  ”I can’t do this.”  All of these thoughts and lots of other negativity were in my head.

I sat down and thought now what?  We can’t go up…too slippery, hip not letting me walk right, cold, rain coming in.  We can’t go down…too slippery and waaaay to scary to try to slide down.  I had visions of tumbling right off the mountain in my head (this could kill me, I thought).  I was “this close” to calling security and sitting there until someone came to get me.

Two things got me through.

One was Glenda.  My Boot Camp buddy who came with me and encouraged me and reminded me that 3 times a week I prove just how strong I can be. She stayed positive and encouraged me…why she didn’t just toss me off the mountain and continue to the top on her own, I have no idea, but I am eternally grateful that she didn’t.

The other thing was really Boot Camp.  Boot Camp has made me strong enough physically to get through that kind of situation.  Mentally, I heard your voice saying, “What doesn’t kill us makes us strong,” and I thought this stupid mountain is not going to kill me.  ”Get your butt out of the snow and get up there,” I said to myself.  And to my surprise, I did just that.

Boot Camp has given me strength at 59 that I didn’t have when I was 40.  It has given me the confidence to sign up to climb Kiliminjaro in the fall…at 59! Each morning when the alarm goes off and I think, “just 5 more minutes,” I remind myself, “What doesn’t kill us, makes us strong!”

Thanks!
Bev

Not only is Bev on her way to climbing Kiliminjaro in September, she has set another lofty goal for herself.  She is raising money for African orphans with AIDS.  You can help her reach her $5,000 goal by clicking here or visiting http://www.globalallianceafrica.org/personal/bevpeterson

Our next Boot Camp begins August 3.  Visit www.anchoragebootcamps.com to sign up or just find out more.
